And the answer is...................

The container that I posted the other day was a corn strach contianer.  I think it is wonderful after all these years that they went from a box with a paper bag to a plastic container.  It's a lot less mess and now it can be repurposed.  Everyone who left a comment or a guess on the container, whether right or wrong please email me your address and I will be sending you a card.  Yes, even those who emailed me their guess are eligible.

Please email me at ibecakes@airadv.net.  I will be out of town for the weekend, but will get your emails on Monday and then you all can be looking for some fun mail in the near future.  Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Embedded Cupcakes

I just had to try this technique of embedding cardstock pieces into another piece of cardstock using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  Sorry this isn't a real good picture.  Looks like I rubbed ink on the left side, but I didn't.  Must have been the camera angle.  I used the Build a Cupcake punch from the Occasions Mini Catalog along with the Create a Cupcake stamp set.  Punched the pieces out and adhered them using Snail adhesive and then ran it through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  The Baja Breeze Seam Binding was gathered by pulling a middle string from the one cut end of the seam binding.  Very easy to do.

Some good guesses on yesterdays post.  Keep guessing and I'll post the answer on Thursday.

Another Makeover

Wow!  It's been a few days since I posted.  I've been busy with my aunt again.  Now she has been diagnosed with cancer so if you could say a prayer for her that all will go well and it can be taken care of, I sure would appreciate it.  I was suppose to take her to the oncologist today, but the roads were too bad with all the snow we got last night.  Seems as though winter is going to go on forever here in Michigan.

Anyhoo!  I wanted to share with you another recycle/makeover project.  Can you guess what it's made from?

Anyone who guesses and gets it right will get a special card made just for you by me.  How's that for a deal?  Be sure to leave your name and a way for me to contact you.  Be sure to leave your answer by Wednesday, February 23.  I'll post the answer on Thursday.  Have fun guessing!

Renee

A Happy Valentine's Day Steal

I've been rather busy today and just didn't get around to getting an awesome Valentine's project around to post today.  I did get the house cleaned, the last of the winter decorations put away (I am really ready to be done with winter so I thought that might help *wink*) baked brownies, made my sweetheart his fav for supper---meatloaf and some roasted cinnamon almonds like you can get at the mall.  And we are going to have a candlelight dinner in the diningroom.  Fancy, fancy!!!  So as you can see I did get a lot accomplished.  Well I guess you can't see, but you get the idea. hehe
So here is what I'm going to share because I know not everyone reads my sister's blog (sorry for the repeat Anne and Lynn), but she made the cutest card so I thought I'd share that.  If you want to visit her blog you can find it HERE and here is the card.

Isn't it cute?  I taught her everything she knows.  LOL!  Well of course I did I am the older sister.  Thanks Carin for allowing me to steal you card today.  Love you!

Hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day and Evening.

Blessings,
Renee

FYI

When I made the Valentine banner HERE, I made a couple of mistakes and cut out the wrong letters.  F & I and I thought, well I can't throw them away, that paper is too yummy and put them in my "later" pile and proceeded to finish my banner.  Well they were laying there on my work area and I kept thinking what can I make with an F and a I?  Then it hit me, how about cutting out a Y!  And it led to this card.  Want to see the inside?  Here you go............
Cute huh?  This will be my Valentine for my Valentine.  Yes, I know it's pink, but Frank is very secure in his manliness so the pink will not bother him at all. *grin*

Here's wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Blessings,
Renee

A Little Laundry Makeover

Yup that's it.  The little cup you see here is a laundry soap cup.  Sometimes I feel obsessed with saving things because I'm always sure there is something I can do with it.  After making it I kept thinking about what could I fill it with?  So yesterday I went and got my hair colored/cut and while I was out and about even in this freezing cold weather (minus 10 below here this morning) I thought I should stop into the Dollar General and see if there was anything in there that would work to fill this cute little cup.  Well what should my eyes see, but a bag of Lemonheads.  Doesn't just reading the words make you get that fun feeling in your jaw?  Love that sweet and sour taste.  I put the candy in a SU small cello bag.  Then I had to make a card to match.  How fun huh?  I just love all the bright colors.  How about you?

Sock Monkey Loves All Seasons

I finally took down my Christmas Sock Monkey vinette, but of course Sock Monkey would not be going away by any means.  Brooke asked me if I was going to make this a "every holiday" Sock Monkey display?  I said why of course!  I know Shelli Gardner (Stampin'Up! CEO) does little vinettes in her house, but I'm thinking she doesn't have a Sock Monkey one.  She just doesn't seem that type, but I could be wrong.  LOL!  Anyway, other than the plate I've already showed you, the new thing here is the punched Red Glimmer paper hearts.  I attached little teeny tiny clothes pins on the back with hot glue and clipped them on.  Isn't it just too cute?  I just love my Sock Monkeys!

Secret Sister Reveal Gift

In our church we have a Secret Sister group and last Saturday was our reveal for the year.  I had such a fun lady to think of surprises for.  She really is a sweetheart and one of her things she loves/collects is writing pens and paper/stationary.  So I knew what her reveal gift was going to be.  I had purchased this lovely pen at a craft show with her in mind.  I believe it's cherry wood (can't remember what the man told me right now) and it is handmade.
Of course it didn't come with a box (guess that man only is a wood crafter)  LOL!  So I set out to make one and knew how I wanted to do it, but not sure on the measurements so after some measuring and some errors I finally go it right.  I am pretty proud of myself.
Even made a top for it.

Then of course a matching journal.  Look at all those embellishments.  Aren't you proud?  LOL!

The final gift .  Of course what would a gift be without chocolate so I added a box of Russell Stover chocolates.  And you know what?  She in turn gave me a thank you gift for being her secret sister.  Didn't I tell you she was sweet?  Thanks Mary!  It was a joy to be your secret sister.

Blessings,
Renee

5th Day at Home

Yes, I haven't been out of the house since Sunday because of all the snow we've received--14" here in Pigeon.  It's not snowing now, but it is blowing and drifting and our schools are on their 3rd snow day for the week.  That usually doesn't happen real often so we know it's not good out there.  I always like the idea of being snowed in, but then after a day I'm usually done with it.  DH did get out to work yesterday afternoon and said he barely made it down our road this morning.  Just one of the many joys of a Michigan winter.

So what have I been doing with my time?  The girls had wanted their bulletin boards re-done ever since the fire and I've had them in my stamp room waiting for time to get around to doing them and yesterday was the day.  The colors and styles fit both of their personalities.

Brooke's of course had to be pink and all girly like.  She loves girly things, but inside she's all tomboy.  She could work circles around many men and does.  Don't tell her she can't do something and especially because she's a girl or she'll prove you wrong anytime.  The beautiful polka dot ribbon was actually ribbon that came around a pair of pajamas one of us received for Christmas.  The ric rac was made using the Big Shot Tasteful Trim die.  The top left piece is a piece of SU Chalkboard Vinyl.  The bottom Note piece is made with a metal flashing shingle I purchased at Menard's and covered with the Love Notes DSP paper and is a magnet board.  Do the felt flowers look familiar?  They were from last years mini catalog and I've been saving them just for this project.  It was Brooke's demand, um I mean suggestion that these be used.  Here name spelled out is some chipboard tiles I had (non SU) that I've had in my stash and I attached them to some thumb tacks.
Lindsay's is colorful, but simple, just like her.  Of course I had to use orange, her fav color.  She had purchased this material especially for her board.  I had a roll of this (non SU) ribbon, but didn't have quite enough to go around the board, so I got creative.  Can you tell how?  Yup, in the corner I added a Big Shot Flower Fold die flower and the little ones are the paper flowers from the catalog that come white, but can be colored any color.  I used the Serif Essentials Big Shot dies to spell out NOTES in Green Galore (retired) cardstock.

The girls were happy when they got home last night and I'm happy I have 2 less things in my stamp room.  *grin*

Tips Anyone?

Here's just a quick little post for you today.  I had to make a new tip container for my daughters since the previous one had seen better days.  They both work at Papa's Pizza, which is a take out place here in town.  I used the Jolly Holiday DSP and covered the corners with some of my retired River Rock Stitched Ribbon.  Yes, one of my New Year's resolutions is to stop hoarding my ribbon and actually use it.  Aren't you proud?  hehe  I cut the letters out using the Big Shot Alphabet die set Timeless Type and used River Rock cardstock.  This alphabet is a great size.  I love it!  I adhered the paper and ribbon with rubber cement so it wouldn't bubble and I hope makes it a little more durable.  The letters were added using my mini Xyron.  I started it late in the afternoon and had it done for Brooke to take to work by 4:30 pm.  Oh and I got paid for this project.  She unloaded the dishwasher for me. *wink*  The container was one of those plastic popcorn cups you can get at the Target $ spot.  Maybe I should make one of these for my kitchen counter. Do you think anyone would get the hint?  LOL!

Blessings,
Renee

A Second Post for the Day

I just couldn't wait to show you this.  I had soooo much fun making it yesterday.  It was almost theraputic in a way and very relaxing.  Look at all the detail and all the embellishments I used.  It felt so good to actually use them instead of hoarding them. LOL!  I had this idea in my head since before Christmas and wanted to have it say NOEL, but that just didn't happen so yesterday I was determined to make it before Valentine's Day slips by.  The stand is something I purchased from Ikea the last time we were done there.  Don't know if they still have them or not.

I used the Pennent Die, the Serif Essentials Alphabet die set.  The letters are cut with from the new Red Glimmer paper.  I added Adhesive Back Pearls, Chantilly Lace Crochet Trim, Very Vanilla Seam Binding, Antique Brass Brads.

I hope you enjoy seeing this as much as I enjoyed making it to show you.

Blessings,
Renee

Isn't this the cutest purse?

Ok, I don't know about you, but I love purses, including paper ones as well.  So when I found this idea from Frenchie Stamps  I knew I had to make one.  This purse is so easy to make and there are so many ways to decorate.  I can't wait to make more.

Colors used were Poppy Parade, Very Vanilla and Basic Black.  I used the Blossom Party Big Shot die for the flower and added a Rhinestone Clear Brad.  I stamped the purse in Poppy Parade using the Friends 24-7 stamp set.  The brads are from the 5/8" Neutrals and are silver.  I added a Self Adhesive Pearl to the middle of them.  I also added some pearls to the clasp which is made from the Round Tab Punch.  I used a piece of velcro to shut the purse.  Oh and what did I put inside?  Homemade Peanut Butter Balls.  Yum!  (in a baggie of course)

Blessings,
Renee

Make and Takes

Here are the make and takes we did on Saturday at my friend Anne's party.  It was a snowy day, but a few brave women headed out and enjoyed the morning visiting, making cards, placing orders and of course eating.  Thanks for a great time ladies.

I have to say that this one is so blissful.  Ok, kind of corny play on words, but it does have a calm appeal.   I used the colors Marina Mist and Blushing Bride and the SALE-A-BRATION set Bliss.   You can get this set FREE with a $50 order from now until March 31, 2011

Here is the other make and take.

I used the single stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog stamped in Real Red, cut out and then stamped again and cut the banner out and layered with dimensionals.  The DSP is the new paper called First Edition.  You have to get some of this paper for your stash.  The package contains 24 sheets of newsprint paper for $11.95 and it's a little thinner than our regular DSP so it's great for layering.  No need for ripping out pages from old books.  I used the Tea Stain ink from the Distressing Kit to give it an aged feel.  Then of course what would a Valentine's Day card be without some bling?  I punched the Heart Trio punch using the new Red Glimmer Paper also available in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  The two larger hearts are popped up on dimensionals as well.

Tomorrow I'll be back with the hostess gift I gave Anne so stop back.
Blessings,
Renee
